Crazy about Saving!

Today's post is going to be a little bit different in the fact that we have never talked about this subject on our blog before. You might not know but Erica is a big couponer! That might sound crazy but shortly after getting married she realized that she needed to find a way to save money since she was not working. Couponing can be a little hard to do, especially if you have never used coupons before. Below are a couple pointers to help you start saving money using coupons!

1. Do NOT buy a bunch of newspapers/coupons
Buying tons of newspaper will be the first thing you want to do, but don't! Having too many coupons will just overwhelm you and you will feel like you'll need to use them all.  You will also spend way more money buying newspapers then what you will actually save in couponing.

2. Stay Organized
This is important when couponing. There are many ways to stay organized, for example a coupon binder, coupon accordion, envelops for each store, etc. Try to find the best way that works for you. Erica likes to use a three ring binder with clear sleeves in it. She sorts her coupons by booklet like Redplum, Smart source, and P&G. She also sorts by date she received each booklet. This makes it easier to keep track of the expiring coupons.

3.Plan your store trips
Planning your trips to the store we help you with over spending and will also help you with having to go to the same store over and over to get different things. Each Sunday when new coupons come out Erica take her time to check out the deals her local stores are having, then she plans her trip to each one. For each trip she figures out what she will be buy and gathers her coupons for that trip into an envelop.

Here are some thing Erica got 2 weeks ago for $2.51
4 bottles ibuprofen, 4 tubs of toothpaste, 4 Oscar Mayer protein packs, 3 count coffee cups, garnier conditioner, and peroxide.

**Please Note: Erica is not a professional couponer. This is just how she coupons.

Happy Friday!
Erica and Emely
